'STAND-DOWN' NAVY BOAT AWASH.(Main)

A Navy boat was swamped as it returned to base to participate in an unprecedented service- wide "stand-down" for safety. None of 10 sailors aboard was injured.

The accident Thursday occurred as most of the Navy began two days of safety exercises for its sailors around the world after 10 accidents in the past three weeks killed 10 people and injured at least 71.

The 36-foot Navy Seafox was swamped in stormy weather on the nearby York River. A Virginia Institute of Marine Science vessel in the area picked up the 10 sailors, who were not injured, said Lt. Cmdr. Steve …
