Internet Thailand cuts access fees, NATION

INTERNET Thailand, a leading Internet service-provider, has launched a
low-priced service that offers a total discount of 49 per cent to its customers.

The company will charge Bt17.50 an hour for customers who log on to
its Internet access service between 9 pm and 8 am on weekdays and 24 hours
on weekends.

The reduction in the Internet access fee will bring down total charges
for the services of Internet Thailand to an average of Bt23.88 per hour,
which is a 49-per-cent discount on the full charge.

The company has boosted the speed capacity of its international lines
and modems to 16 Mbps and 56 Kbph respectively.

The special offer is available to both old and new subscribers to
Internet Thailand from yesterday to Sept 30.

Meanwhile the board of directors of the Communications Authority of
Thailand (CAT) has approved the formation of a joint-venture company between
CAT and Reunet Corporation Co Ltd to provide an Internet service.

The new company will have Bt15 million in registered capital, of which
32 per cent (Bt4.8 million) will be held by CAT while its employees will
hold 3 per cent (Bt450,000), Reunet 50 per cent (Bt7.5 million) and Telemade
Corporation 15 per cent (Bt2.25 million).

The board also granted CAT permission to link up with an international
roaming service of a foreign Internet service-provider for better international
access.
