EyeBlack gets MLB nod

EyeBlack.com, a Kensington-based company that makes protectivestrips athletes use to protect their eyes from sun glare, said ithas a multi-year licensing agreement with Major League BaseballProperties to make EyeBlack products bearing the logos of all 30 MLBClubs, as well as the official MLB "silhouetted batter" logo.EyeBlack.com also has the rights to produce EyeBlack with additionaldesigns, such as the All-Star Game logos. Financial terms were notdisclosed. EyeBlack.com products are used by Major League Lacrosseteams as well as more than 400 collegiate sports teams across thenation.

Shoreline work completed

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is scheduled toannounce Tuesday the completion of the $4.7 million Pleasure IslandDredging and Living Shoreline Enhancement Project. The dredging andbeach replenishment project restores boating access to the PleasureIsland Channel, improves water quality and protects 2,200 feet offragile shoreline, according to officials. The project was managedby Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection andSustainability staff and was funded by the Maryland Department ofNatural Resources through the Maryland Department of the Environmentwith federal economic stimulus money.

More work for SAIC

Science Applications International Corp. of McLean, Va., said itwas awarded a follow-on contract by the U.S. Army Medical Researchand Materiel Command to provide scientific and other supportservices to the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs.The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a two-yearbase period, three one-year options and a contract ceiling of morethan $61 million if all options are exercised. Work will beperformed primarily in Frederick. The CDMRP is a partnership amongCongress, the public and the military to support untapped scientificand medical research.

3G coverage expanded

Verizon Wireless announced that it has upgraded 3G wirelesscoverage in Harford and Montgomery counties and at the MarylandState House in Annapolis by activating new cell sites. Areas gettingimproved coverage include Aberdeen Proving Ground and along the I-270 corridor. Expanded 3G capacity enables more customers usingtablets, laptops or smartphones to rapidly browse the Web; send andreceive emails; open and download attachments; instantly downloadthe latest apps; engage turn-by-turn driver navigation; and more.

ezStorage mobile app

ezStorage Corp. of Columbia, a self-storage company withfacilities in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., said it nowhas a mobile application, available at http://app.ezstorage.com/html. By accessing the website with a smartphone, customers canconveniently locate any of the company's 45 locations, makereservations and pay their bill from their phone. The app is freeand Internet-based, not downloaded, so it does not consume storagespace or slow a user's phone. It is compatible with all mobileoperating systems.
