SA: Rann to bulldoze bikie headquarters under planned laws
South Australian Premier MIKE RANN says he's looking forward to watching bikie gangheadquarters being bulldozed under proposed changes to state planning laws.
The laws will give councils the power to refuse outlaw bikie gangs permission to buildheadquarters in suburban Adelaide.
At present, councils must approve all valid building applications, regardless of theapplicants' character.
At least four bikie headquarters have been established in Adelaide, including the HellsAngels, the Bandidos, the Gypsy Jokers and the Rebels.
Mr RANN says they know many fortresses are simply factories for amphetamines.
He says the government will look at laws concerning bikie gang headquarters in othercountries before finalising new laws for the state.
The premier says if gangs go ahead and build fortresses against the proposed planninglaws they'll be bulldozed -- and he looks forward to coming along and watching.
